October Unprocessed 2013

October Unprocessed is back, now in its fourth year!  

Each year I lead October Unprocessed, challenging people to eat no processed food for the entire month.*

I took the first challenge with my friends Dana and Lindsey, back in 2009 before I started blogging. Since then, I’ve led the challenge here, while sharing guest posts from other bloggers, authors, and experts on a range of “unprocessed” topics throughout the month. It’s been a life-changing experience for me and for so many people who have decided to take the leap and participate.

I’ve set up a separate page for the challenge, which includes how I define “unprocessed” and the pledge itself. So click through, find out what it’s all about, and take the pledge!

* I encourage everyone to participate at a level that’s comfortable for them, so if a month is too much of a commitment, that’s okay. Read more on the main page.

yeah, I’m so excited to learn more from Oct. Unprocessed again this year. Healthy eating does not suck, and following this just continues to teach us more ways to enjoy food and feel good about it!

I completed the October Unprocessed for 2012 and it was great! One of my favorite things besides eating Real Food was all of the guess posts. I love that I learned to make homemade Flour and Corn Tortillas from this site. They are so amazing and easy to make! 🙂 Very excited for 2013 challenge!

I didn’t do so well last year as my husband was not on board with this kind of change. But after our family vacation and him falling way behind on our hikes, I think this might be the perfect time for this challenge. I’m very excited!

Unprocessed 2012 as well as my holistic nutrition education has drastically changed my way of eating!! Thank you for all that you do. I’m ready for Unprocessed 2013, and not nervous about it. I’m READY! Yay!!

And…Great job on the sponsorship from Bob’s Red Mill!! I can’t wait for the coupons. I need quinoa flour for a recipe, but I didn’t buy it this past weekend brcause it was pretty pricy. Now I will feel better about purchasing it. 🙂

Thanks for all your hard work putting this together. I just signed up for my second year. I made great strides last year but need a tune up as some processed foods have crept back into my diet.

So excited, this will be our second year we completed last year at about 90-95% unprocessed. Kept alot going throughout the year but time to buckle down again. Thanks for all your help/work!!!!

I plan on giving it another go this year. Last year I attempted unofficially and fell apart quickly. Things are more better now, so next step is imporivng food quality in my world.

I LOVED participating last year. It made a big difference in how I feed my kiddos. I especially loved reading the guest posts throughout the month. Great stuff. Can’t wait.

This October Unprocessed will be my third challenge. The first year I got my feet wet, learned a lot, and tried my best. The second year I managed to eliminate Aspartame from my diet and changed many other habits for the better. I’ve since signed up for a local farm’s CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) vegetable share and buy most all organic produce and grass fed/humanely raised organic meats and other food items. I still have much more to learn, but I’m really looking forward to continuing my quest to eating only “real” foods.
