It’s Time For October Unprocessed!

October Unprocessed is back for our 12th year!

The goal of the annual October Unprocessed challenge is simple: Avoid eating processed food for the entire month.*

I did the first challenge with my friends Dana and Lindsey back in 2009 before I even started blogging. Since then, I’ve led the challenge here, while sharing posts from other bloggers, authors, and experts on a range of “unprocessed” topics throughout the month. It’s been a long-term, life-changing experience for me and for more than 30,000 people (seriously!) who have decided to take the leap and give it a try. I’m excited to do it again this year, and hope you’ll join us!

I’ve set up a separate page for the challenge, which includes my definition of “unprocessed,” and the pledge itself. Go here to find out what it’s all about, and take the pledge!

I know it’s been quiet around here lately…

My family and I are all doing well and are safe and healthy. I’ve just been very busy helping other publishers, providing website maintenance and support services. That has taken up all of my time and focus, so I just haven’t had the bandwidth to continue publishing here.

But, we still have hundreds of posts and recipes from previous challenges, so each day throughout the month I’m going to publish a “round-up” post of all the guest posts that were published on that day in October Unprocessed history — it is truly a treasure trove of information, guidance, and recipes. And for those of you who have been participating for many years, it’ll be a nice way to jog your memory of topics we’ve covered before!

The October Unprocessed Facebook Group is also still going strong! I encourage you to join the group and participate there – you’ll find a very welcoming, supportive community.

Where to Start

First, be sure to take the pledge here.  Then check out all of the Frequently Asked Questions posts – these are a “deep dive” into how we define “unprocessed.” The FAQs cover a wide variety of foods and potential pitfalls during the challenge, and are essential reading as you embark on the challenge.

Bonus: Set Yourself up for Unprocessed Success!

Real Food Rescue LogoAs a companion program to October Unprocessed, I’ve created Real Food Rescue, a guided program filled with strategies, printable checklists & worksheets, dozens of recipes, and three weeks of full meal plans.

The October Unprocessed Challenge is still totally free, but the Real Food Rescue is the easiest way to have all the best resources and guidance at your disposal, in an organized, four-week program — helping you take control of what you eat, feel great, and transform your life.

Get $10 off the Real Food Rescue when you take the October Unprocessed pledge and purchase during September or October!

It feels really great to be kicking off the challenge once again, and I’m thrilled that you’re going to join in.  I hope the challenge is a tremendous success for you. Here’s to your health! 🙂

* I encourage everyone to participate at a level that’s comfortable for them, so if a month is too much of a commitment for you, that’s a-okay. Read more on the main page.

Andrew, I look forward to this challenge every year, and have made so many lasting changes to my familly’s eating habits through the inspiration of this challenge. Thank you! I wanted to tell you that because of your wonderful coupons and challenge last year, I was able to afford to make hundreds of wholesome and tasty whole wheat pancakes for my son’s entire class during their Oregon Trail Days learning unit. It was so gratifying to see the kids eating well and enjoying it.

Thanks again!
Amanda
